What Is the Recycle project?
It is a project run by Aberdeenshire Council’s social work department for people who may require training and support to access employment.
The community group Recycle (Deeside Services) is dedicated to recycling and reuse and is offering a new, free service collecting unwanted technology from homes and businesses in the area.
Currently items that are complete, in working order and in reasonably good condition, having been purchased within the last few years, can be accepted. If you have any of the items shown below please contact us to make an appointment and we will collect them free of charge. Alternatively, you can always come to the Recycle unit in Aboyne (address below) in office hours (between 9.00am and 3.30pm) and drop your equipment off.
The service will run for six months before being assessed, so householders and businesses are encouraged to make the most of the opportunity.
Recycle (Deeside Services) is working with environmental organisations Re-Tek and Enscape to run the pilot. A local company, Enscape are providing its management and logistics expertise in the circular economy, to assist both Recycle and Re-Tek implement this exciting new service.
Who Are Recycle?
As part of Aberdeenshire Council’s Social Work department, the group work within Aberdeenshire’s Deeside community and is specifically designed for individuals who may require training and support to access employment, in addition to providing sheltered placements as appropriate to an individual’s needs.
The group have been working within the Deeside community for ten years now, and initially formed to fulfil a service agreement with Aberdeenshire Councils Waste Management service by collecting, sorting and baling plastic bottles. In recent years, the group has expanded its activity by opening their Kraftwork studio in Aboyne, where they put together bags of kindling and create items, such as upcycled furniture as well as products made from recycled wooden pallets. In addition to this, they also decorate horseshoes for weddings and other special occasions and produce handmade soaps in various colours and scents.
Safe Data Wiping
